Dar es Salaam – Electric Bicycles for Medical Deliveries
EURIST Driving Sustainable Mobility Forward
2024
On November 23, 2024, a pilot project was launched in Dar es Salaam to introduce e-bikes for urban deliveries. The cycling cooperative FASTA is using pedal-assist electric bicycles to efficiently and sustainably transport packages, including medical deliveries for the Aga Khan Hospital.
EURIST’s Key Role in the Project
EURIST contributed significantly to the project’s success:
Training and Assembly: Together with FABIO, EURIST trained participants in operating the e-bikes and led workshops on assembling their components.
Building Local Capacity: EURIST enhanced participants‘ skills in maintenance and assembly to ensure long-term usability.
Project Monitoring: Using GPS tracking and regular feedback sessions, EURIST is supporting the six-month pilot to continuously refine and improve outcomes.
E-Bikes: Efficient, Healthy, and Space-Saving
E-bikes promote sustainable mobility, enable the transport of heavier loads, and are highly space-efficient in urban environments. Through collaboration with local and international partners, EURIST is helping set new standards for innovative delivery solutions in cities.
This project is a model for the future of urban mobility – and EURIST is proud to be a part of it.
